A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux

This is a prototype version of the mobile app we're working on and this build is for PC/OSX/Linux but the UI is focused on mobile. If you have a gigantic screen we recommend playing windowed.

Learn Spanish quickly through humiliating immersion mixed with social combat!

Big Bad Spanish (BBS) is a game which teaches you Spanish for the REAL world by throwing you into the deep end and letting you sink or swim.

Learning a new language is hard...

Most people learn languages in a classroom environment where there is safety in numbers and you practice with the same, bland but helpful characters.

And that's why it doesn't work...the real world - the Big Bad world is full of impatient and unhelpful people who do not follow the rules of the classroom.

BBS uses branching conversations. What you choose to say can completely change the course of the conversation...for good and bad.

From mumbling Colombians to bureaucrats in Barcelona, every character has a unique, natural accent and personality ranging from friendly to downright hostile.

You play as Benji, a normal twenty-something with zero Spanish skills who gets sucked into a globe trotting quest. From Cuba to Cantabria and Caracas to Colombia, you will meet people from every corner of the Spanish speaking world.

And by interacting with and battling these cranky hotel receptionists, sleazy taxi drivers, flirty waitresses, slurring slimey douchebags and scuzzy muggers you WILL learn to speak commando Spanish naturally and with confidence in every situation.

You learn by getting knocked down, brushing yourself off and trying again.

Its frustrating but you will forever remember the words and phrases you hear and then be able to pull them out in real life without just like "wax on-wax off".

Get out of your comfort zone and jump into the deep end.

Play the Demo now.

This sounds super interesting!! Would you consider making similar games for other languages? I'd personally be interested in Korean, Japanese, and Italian.

Hi Big Bad Studios, I've tried playing the game, however I had some issues with continuing from the first location. I am on windows 8: I have only managed to select an answer to the first question in the bar, after that I cannot click on the arrow to proceed because it is blocked by the options used to answer the question. I like that the game gives possible real life scenarios and makes learning fun. Waiting for the next update with bated breath!

Gah! Thanks for telling us Patchua. Changing screen resolution might help?

Hey guys! I have the same issue. It does seem like a resolution/scaling/UI-element-anchoring problem, but the Unity settings dialogue only gives me an option for my native resolution (1440x900) and a windowed checkbox. I even tried manually editing the playerprefs plist, but that wasn't effecting the resolution.
Anyways, the few minute I did play seemed promising!! I'm super fixated on the potential for language learning through games, so I'm excited to see where this project goes! Looks great so far. :)

Yeah, I just had this problem, too. When I go to the Bonk Piñata menu and reset, the box (Dime algo) blocking the proceed arrow shows up right away instead of after selecting the first answer. There is only one option for the screen resolution upon starting up the game.

Big Bad Studios, I seem to have the same problem. I tried it on all four available resolutions, but nothing changes.

Since nobody seems to have provided any visuals for you on what happens, here: http://prntscr.com/f7gr7v

It just stays like that, and if you go to the pause menu to restart, it's like that from the very beginning. http://prntscr.com/f7gtvc

It does this regardless of which answer you click. This makes me very sad because the visuals are beautiful, and the music is exciting, and I'd really like to enjoy the gameplay.

What a unique and brilliant idea concerning this game! :)

Cheers! Give it a go!
